About Me

Raelene Hurry, M.Ed., RCC

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC and I work with adults, adolescents and children.

I believe as human beings we are hard-wired for connection with others and much of our suffering can often be connected to a real, a perceived, or a fear of a wound to our attachment with others. To me, providing a safe, non-judgmental space for you to let your guard down and be seen, heard, and respected is a privilege. I believe that you are the expert of your life, but at times we all need some support, some guidance, or some clarity in our lives. From a holistic, integrative and compassionate approach, I have had the honour of helping clients create new insights into their challenges or situations, understand and connect to their authentic self, heal old wounds, and develop healthy coping skills as they reach their goals and live a life aligned with their values. I know that through the power of a positive relationship between client and counsellor, change can and does happen; therefore, I work to develop an authentic relationship with each of my clients.

I have a Masters degree in Educational Counselling and a Bachelor's degree in Child and Youth Care. I have over two decades of experience counselling children and families with mental health needs across educational and community settings and I have been witness to incredible resilience. I believe there is always hope and the capacity for growth in each of us is amazing.

As a mama of two, my own life experience has contributed to my passion for supporting maternal mental health. I work with individuals during the phase before pregnancy and all throughout their journey. I also provide parenting support, primarily for parents of children 0-13.

I believe that optimal health and well-being comes from supporting our mind, body, and spirit. When we learn to connect, support, and listen to both our mind and our body, we have tremendous power to heal.

On A Personal Note:

I love working with people and connecting with friends and family, but I also need and love alone time to curl up with a book, paint, or watch a show. I love the outdoors and enjoy camping with my husband and children whenever possible. I also enjoy taking amateur photos of nature because it helps me pause and mindfully take in the beauty around me. Lastly, I feel most at peace by the water or in the forest and can always be spotted doing yoga in either place!
